Between May 31 and June 6, our Year 10 High School students engaged in a remarkable educational immersion in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest.
Our Year 10 High School students participated in an immersion program in the Amazon region, focused on fieldwork and cultural experiences. The itinerary included ecological hikes, biodiversity workshops, native species observation, and meetings with riverside community leaders. The group also had the opportunity to explore local culture, including traditional dances and regional cuisine.
The central focus of the trip was volunteer work in the village of Acajatuba, where students engaged in trail cleaning, revitalization of community spaces, and support for local tourism. These activities encouraged meaningful exchanges with the community, including student-led guidance on using foreign languages such as English and Portuguese.
Another highlight was the group’s participation in the Quelônios do Rio Negro project, which is dedicated to the preservation of Amazonian turtles. Students collected scientific data and released hatchlings into the river.
The experience in the Amazon is a unique opportunity for holistic learning, combining academic knowledge with personal development.
